Prototypes

Five prototypes
Five complex prototypes I designed and built. Use arrows to navigate between video clips.

Prototypes are interactive, navigable models of a proposed software solution typically created to elicit stakeholder feedback. They should not be confused with wireframes, which are static documents.

Prototypes are vital to the task of creating shared understanding across your team, enabling you to discover issues before any actual coding has commenced.

Effective prototypes can be created, as these were, using tools like Figma and Axure. They can range in complexity from very simple to very complex. They can additionally range in fidelity -- from low to high.

In these five short video clips, I overview a small sample of the many interactive prototypes I’ve designed and constructed over the course of my career.

As you watch, be aware that I designed the look-and-feel of only the first example presented. The Visual Design applied in the remaining four examples was the result of a pre-established look-and-feel created by a separate Visual Designer. In those four cases, the prototypes serve to model IxD / workflow for new screens and features. Examples of UI Design I’ve produced can be found here.
